Chris Pepler
Chris Pepler is a metalwork designer specialising in the manufacture of small batch and one-off limited productions, as well as both large- and small-scale commissions. The majority of his work consists of high-quality crafted pieces, and ranges from functional objects to highly sculptural pieces.
Adaptations of natural imagery, both plant and animal, inspire Chris's choices of form the most. While Chris uses two-dimensional sketch-work as a key factor in beginning each piece, the majority of his design choices happen during the creative process. At times, Chris produces and adapts forms intuitively and impulsively, which he considers more enjoyable, and which sometimes results in more experimentation as the sculpture takes shape, and certainly more exciting outcomes.
Wherever possible, Chris purchases and works with reclaimed materials destined for landfill or industrial recycling facilities. He believes in a truly sustainable work ethic and each piece is minimally reprocessed, built to last, and designed to minimise external environmental impacts.
