Ken Hurd
Working as a visualiser/designer, Ken Hurd has produced work for many leading companies in the midlands, including: Raleigh, Peugeot and Cadbury's. After his work was chosen to be included in the Adobe Photoshop Calendar in 1999, he decided to study fine-art and printmaking full time. Graduating from university in 2003 he now spends his time working on his own highly personal mixed media projects and creating 'one off' prints of his work.
Ken likes to create exotic or puzzling landscapes that are intended to create a 'sense of wonder' about the world. He uses his 'unknown narrative' idea that asks the viewer for a response.
"It's ironic that my work draws on imagery from encyclopedias and books of knowledge that I used to pore over as a boy because my work is more about a child-like innocence or about a lack of knowledge about the world".
His list of collaborative exhibitions include the 'Adobe Photoshop Calendar Winners' in London, 'The Western Collective' at The Lowery Gallery in Manchester and 'Image Text Image' at The Light House Media Centre in Wolverhampton.
